He also noted that the Kremlin does not take any position on the initiative to rename the city of Kaliningrad to Vladybaltiysk.

Lithuania announced the termination of the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region from June 18. The reason was the EU sanctions against Russia, which were introduced due to a special operation in Ukraine. A large list of goods fell under the restrictions – from 40 to 50 percent of the range of goods, including building materials, cement and metals.

Earlier, the governor of the Kaliningrad region, Anton Alikhanov, said that Kaliningrad transit cannot be used to circumvent sanctions. Earlier, he also reported that work on resolving the issue of transit to the region is underway, and there are good chances for its favorable completion.
