The head of the administration of the Kharkov region, Oleg Sinegubov, said that Russian equipment broke into the city center. He urged citizens to stay in shelters. Advisor to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko published video from the streets of Kharkiv, in which, presumably, Russian vehicles move through the center of Kharkiv. The Russian Defense Ministry has not yet commented on this information.
“There was a breakthrough of light equipment of the Russian enemy in Kharkov. Including the central part of the city. Attention! Do not leave hiding places. The Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminate the enemy. We ask the civilian population not to take to the streets of the city,” Mr. Sinegubov wrote in his Telegram channel. Mr. Gerashchenko, for his part, called on citizens to “get up and help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
The Russian Ministry of Defense did not report anything about the fighting in Kharkov, but stated that yesterday, February 26, in the Kharkov region, the 302nd anti-aircraft missile regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, equipped with Buk M-1 air defense systems, voluntarily laid down its arms and surrendered. “471 Ukrainian servicemen were detained. All Ukrainian servicemen are treated with respect and assistance. After paperwork is completed, they will be sent to their families,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry of Defense also reported that the group of LPR troops, with the support of the Russian armed forces, “carried out successful offensive operations and established control over the settlements of Novoakhtyrka, Smolyaninovo, Stanichno-Luganskoe”, the DPR group took control of Pavlopol and Pishchevik, the RF Armed Forces blocked Kherson and Berdyansk and took control of Genichevsk and the Chernobaevka airfield near Kherson, according to the Ministry of Defense.
