The head of the Accounts Chamber, Valery Patskan, wrote a letter of resignation. However, he soon withdrew the document. Earlier, on October 24, he was suspected by NABU and SAPO of illegally receiving compensation for housing at a time when he was a people's deputy, writes Obozrevatel.

In turn, the people’s deputy from the Voice, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, said: on November 16, the budget committee of the Verkhovna Rada was supposed to vote for the adoption of Patskan’s statement. However, he withdrew it.
“Today, a meeting of the Budget Committee of the Verkhovna Rada was to be held to vote on the application for the dismissal of V. Patskan from the post of Chairman of the Accounts Chamber. The intrigue is that the application was later withdrawn. And the quorum of the Committee did not meet. The meeting did not take place,” he said.

What preceded
On October 24, NABU and SAPO handed Patskan a suspicion of illegally receiving UAH 117.65 thousand in compensation for housing from the state budget of Ukraine. The funds were allocated through the estimate of the Verkhovna Rada, since at the time of the offense the accused was a people's deputy. In connection with this, he faces a prison term of up to three years.
“In September 2017, [the suspect] filed an application with the Verkhovna Rada Apparatus for monthly compensation for the cost of renting housing or renting a hotel room. However, by the time this application was submitted, the people’s deputy already owned an apartment in a new building in Pechersk in Kyiv, suitable for living,” NABU reported.
Patskan himself said that he considered the suspicions unfounded. In particular, he assures that the apartment in Pechersk was unfit for habitation, and therefore the compensation was charged legally.
