The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that a resident of the republic, Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov, died during a “special operation to protect Donbass.” In a message on his Instagram page, he expressed his condolences to the officer’s family.
“I took with great regret the tragic news of the death of our young compatriot, officer of the Russian Army Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov, who honorably fulfilled his duty during a special operation to protect Donbass. I express my deep condolences to the family of Nurmagomed, a native of the Kulinsky district, a brave son of Dagestan. He showed courage because he was brought up that way and because he chose for himself the difficult and noble path of defending the world, ”Melikov wrote.
This is the first official report on the death of a Russian soldier during the Russian military operation in Ukraine. Officially, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has not yet reported whether Russia had losses during the hostilities.
