The head of Booking.com, an online hotel booking service, fired almost all of the full-time support staff around the world in one video. This was told by one of the dismissed workers on Reddit.
He did not publish the video, which was recorded by Booking.com CEO Glenn Vogel, as it would violate the terms of the non-disclosure agreement.
According to Dutch News, Vogel announced his resignation via email. Booking.com has decided to lay off its support staff due to a company reorganization.
Customer support will be outsourced to Majorel in the second quarter of 2022. The agreement will affect 12 of the 14 customer service departments in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas.
Another Dutch media NL Times writes that Booking.com will leave at least 2.7 thousand employees. However, they will be able to join Majorel and sign a contract for six months.
At the same time, the dismissed employee claims that people now have no guarantees of severance pay, and they themselves can be transferred to another company, to another country, or to reduce their salary. In addition, it is not known what will happen if an employee refuses to work at Majorel.
“Working conditions will only be maintained for the first 6 months. After that, they can do whatever they want with your contract, and the only thing you can do is resign,” the ex-employee said.
