Lia Muradova was detained while registering a hotel room. After checking it against the database, the hotel worker found out that the 58-year-old lady was wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization, and immediately told the local police about it. Law enforcement officers who soon arrived at the hotel, having entered Ms. Muradova’s room, told her that she had been arrested in absentia by the Presnensky District Court of Moscow on November 19, 2021, and offered to go with them. Before the extradition request of the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office was examined in court, the detainee was placed in the women’s prison in the resort town of Pozzuoli, not far from Naples.
