The Roscongress Foundation, which organizes the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), receives requests from the participants of the event regarding the information that will be placed on their badges.
They don’t want to be listed as their place of work. The reason for everything is anti-Russian sanctions, writes RBC.
Five employees of companies participating or considering participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum told the publication about the discussion of various options for reducing information. Three of them claim that the possibility of not indicating any information on the participants’ badges at all was considered.
In response to a request from RBC, a representative of Roscongress confirmed that the issue of the content of information on the badges of the participants in the upcoming event is indeed on the agenda. He did not say anything definite about whether they would be allowed not to indicate their place of work, however, he noted that the badge is mandatory for all participants and it is “technically impossible” to issue it without a photo and the name of the owner, at least.
In a conversation with RBC, a senior executive from a major food company explained that leading Russian business people are really interested in not having information on the badge because they fear Western sanctions for participating in the forum.
According to three other interlocutors of the publication, guests of the forum will be allowed not to indicate their speakers or the name of the company in the official and public lists of participants. As RBC notes, the list of participants in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2022, including foreign ones, has not yet been published.
