Said Gutseriev will no longer be seen in M.Video
This news was shared on Thursday, June 30, during a conversation with reporters by the company's press service.
Gutseriev chose to step down from the board of directors of PJSC M.Video (M.Video-Eldorado group) and has already informed them about it.
RBC’s press service quoted an official who stated that Gutseriev declared he was at the final stage of selling his shares in M.Video PJSC.
The British government imposed sanctions on Gutseriev, but not on M.Video-Eldorado group, which is functioning normally, as highlighted by the press service.
Gutseriev controls 60.4% of the authorized capital of PJSC M.Video, and the Group operates 663 Eldorado stores and 605 M.Video stores across 375 Russian cities.
Back in April, the businessman announced the agreement to sell all his shares in the company, with the identity of the buyer still undisclosed. His decision to leave the board of directors came after news of the sanctions.
Gutseriev, along with some family members, including his son Mikhail and brother Sait-Salam, were affected by British sanctions due to their alleged involvement in profiting from or supporting the Russian government. London also stated that the Gutserievs control a stake in companies crucial to the Russian economy's financial sector.
The UK banned Gutseriev from entering the country and declared that all his assets there would be frozen upon discovery.
The entrepreneur also holds a controlling stake (33.3%) in the SFI investment holding. After the UK's sanctions, he decided to step down from the board of directors, as reported by the company's press service.
On June 29, the UK extended its anti-Russian sanctions to include several individuals, such as Ruslan Baysarov, the head of the Kemerovo region Sergey Tsivilev, and the chair of the board of directors of Kolmar Group Anna Tsivileva. Additionally, the Kolmar group and the Moscow Industrial Bank were restricted.
London also imposed sanctions on billionaire Vladimir Potanin in connection with his purchase of Rosbank.
