Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin instructed the Russian Foreign Ministry to negotiate and sign an agreement with Belarus on sending up to 200 Belarusian troops to Syria. Relevant Document published on the official portal of legal information.
The military sent to Syria, according to the document, will be involved “in the implementation of activities exclusively for humanitarian purposes outside the combat zone.” It is specified that the Belarusian military contingent will be deployed at the locations of the Russian aviation group – at the Khmeimim air base.
The tasks and composition of the Belarusian group will be approved by the authorities of Belarus, having coordinated them with the Russian side. The servicemen will be subordinate to the Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties, but remain under the command of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
