Putin refused to congratulate the United States on Independence Day
Russian President Vladimir Putin this year refused to send greetings to the US authorities on Independence Day because of unfriendly policies. This was stated by the official representative of the Kremlin Dmitry Peskov, reports TASS.
The press secretary of the head of state explained that in such circumstances, sending a congratulatory message looks inappropriate. According to Peskov, the current year has become “the culmination of an unfriendly policy on the part of the United States.”
Independence Day is celebrated in the United States on July 4th.
Earlier, the Kremlin said that there had been no direct contacts between Russian and US Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden since the start of the special operation in Ukraine.
Peskov specified that contacts between the heads of state on the issue of ensuring strategic stability between Russia and the United States are also not planned.
