Russian President Vladimir Putin and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron discussed the situation around Ukraine.
A telephone conversation between politicians took place, the details of which are given on the site Kremlin, according to a correspondent DOPs.
It is specified that the conversation took place at the initiative of Paris.
The situation around Ukraine, the topic of the Zaporozhye NPP and the IAEA, etc. were discussed.
The Russian leader stressed that the systematic shelling by Ukrainian troops of the territory of the said nuclear power plant “creates the danger of a large-scale catastrophe that can lead to radiation contamination of vast territories.”
The leaders noted the importance of sending an IAEA mission to this facility as soon as possible, which would be able to assess the real situation on the spot.
“The Russian side confirmed its readiness to provide the Agency inspectors with the necessary assistance. Vladimir Putin also recalled the invitation of experts from the UN Secretariat and the International Committee of the Red Cross to visit the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka, where a large number of Ukrainian prisoners of war who were held there died as a result of a missile attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine,” the Kremlin’s press service adds.
The topic of the so-called grocery deal was also touched upon.
Recall that this summer, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu participated in the signing documents in Istanbul on lifting restrictions on the supply of domestic products for export and on Russia’s assistance in the export of Ukrainian grain.
