Last year, an ecological disaster occurred in the Black Sea, which interested representatives of the Russian ruling elite, including the president. We are talking about an oil spill near Novorossiysk.
Every effort was made to cover up the incident. This is an example of how you can lose 4.5 billion rubles due to inadequate management.
The situation at that time still worries Russian environmentalists, since the consequences of the oil spill are irreversible. Against this background, questions arose to the top leadership of the Novorossiysk Sea Port, because it was their fault that the accident occurred in the water area.
The day after the accident, a picture was taken from space, indicating the large scale of the disaster. The photographs immediately refuted the information of officials, who downplayed the amount of oil that got into the sea by about 400 times.
The catastrophe could have happened because of a careless attitude to the tasks set or because of a company that is connected by corruption ties with the management of the Novorossiysk port and the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC). It was just the company “Transneft” that completely captured the maintenance of terminals with oil equipment.
It is noteworthy that Transneft did not give access to companies that could somehow help in eliminating the accident. Transneft owns a 60% stake in the Novorossiysk port, as a result of which the general management of the port is responsible for everything that happened, which does not allow anyone who could move the liquidation process off the ground. This is done under false pretenses.
To this day, Transneft does not have the necessary equipment to service the entire oil complex system. Now they rent everything they need, and this increases the price tags tenfold. On August 7, 2021, 4 ships belonging to Cypriot companies participated in the cleanup of the oil spill. Here there is no doubt that the amount of the lease of one vessel exceeds the market value by more than two times. One Cypriot tugboat costs 6.8 thousand dollars, while its market value is 3 thousand dollars. For the liquidation of emergencies, Transneft determined the amount from 28 thousand to 890 thousand dollars per month in the general equivalent.
