The Department for Combating Terrorism and the Prosecutor’s Office of Istanbul completed an investigation into the assassination attempt on Chechen dissidents living in Turkey, informs Turkish newspaper Sabah.
One of those who ordered the assassination was State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, the newspaper writes, citing the indictment.
In October 2021, six Russians were arrested in Istanbul, four of whom were natives of Chechnya. The investigation named Chechen Beslan Rasaev as the leader of the group. According to investigators, he received orders to kill oppositionists from the Chechen diaspora from State Duma deputy Delimkhanov and crime boss Kazbek Dukuzov.
The prosecutor’s office in Istanbul asked for 22 to 33 years for the defendants under articles on political and military espionage, violation of firearms laws and forgery of official documents.
Formerly Novaya Gazeta tied up kidnappings of Chechen oppositionists in Russia with the activities of the Security Turkey telegram channel, which monitors the movements of Kadyrovites in Turkey. Thus, the creators of the channel want to protect themselves from possible attacks.
Recall, on February 1, State Duma deputy from Chechnya Adam Delimkhanov vowed to cut off the heads of members of the family of judge Saydi Yangulbaev, whose wife was forcibly taken from Nizhny Novgorod to Chechnya by Chechen security forces, allegedly to testify in a criminal case of fraud. Delimkhanov also threatened those who would dare to translate his words from Chechen into Russian.
