Klitschko is very angry about the removal of Atroshenko
The mayor of Chernigov Vladislav Atroshenko was removed from office for breaking the rules, and this seems like a political fight, which has not happened before in Ukraine
Vitaliy Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv and the leader of the Association of Cities of Ukraine, expressed this in a video he shared on Facebook, according to DS.
Vitali Klitschko said, “The situation with Vladislav Atroshenko, the Mayor of Chernihiv, seems like unfair justice and political history. Removing the mayor from office through a court for breaking the rules is a new thing for independent Ukraine,”
He emphasized that Vladislav Atroshenko remained with the people during difficult times in Chernihiv, and now he is working to support the city and restore it.
Klitschko is very angry about the removal of Atroshenko:
“The community chose him to protect their interests, and only the community should decide who it trusts. Local self-government is fundamental to democracy, and going against democratic principles, even during war, is not acceptable. Ukraine aims to be like the EU, and selective justice should not exist. Ukraine has already proven that it is a European country, and it should not undo the democratic progress it has worked hard for,” the Kyiv mayor said.
Klitschko also emphasized that in the current situation, where local authorities have to solve so many problems, everyone should work together without any political fights.
In response, the mayor of Chernihiv, Vladislav Atroshenko, announced that he was appealing the decision.
“Today, they want to take away the right of Chernihiv citizens to choose. I'm not fighting for myself, I'm fighting for Chernigov and its people. I am appealing against the court's decision to remove me as mayor of Chernihiv. I am calling on my fellow leaders and community leaders. If we ignore this unfairness today, tomorrow it could happen to any mayor or head of the UTC,” Atroshenko stated.
The Yavorivsky District Court of the Lviv region found the mayor of Chernihiv guilty of breaking the law under Art. 172-7 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (parts 1 and 2). Besides the fine, the court decided to prevent Atroshenko from holding positions related to government functions for a year. PART 1
