Investigators have identified a new defendant in the case of former Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova, who is accused of fraud. They became the head of the RANEPA research laboratory Natalia Kornienko.

The director of the laboratory was charged in absentia under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud on an especially large scale”) and put on the federal wanted list.
According to investigators, Kornienko was involved in the episode associated with the theft of 20 million rubles allocated from the budget for the federal project “Teacher of the Future”. The ex-official Rakova and the rector of Shaninka Sergey Zuev were accused of involvement in this crime.
The Investigative Committee of Russia believes that Kornienko, who was engaged in research in the field of taxation, property and international relations, helped them cash out the stolen goods.
