Director of the research laboratory for the development of the tax system of the RANEPA Natalya Kornienko was charged in absentia in a criminal case of fraud, the main defendant in which is the former deputy head of Sberbank and Deputy Minister of Education Marina Rakova.
Kornienko was put on the federal wanted list, a law enforcement source told TASS. He added that the scientist was interrogated in October 2021 in the Rakova case, after which she flew to Chisinau (Moldova).
Kornienko is suspected of involvement in the episode with the theft of 21 million rubles allocated for the Teacher of the Future project. According to investigators, as Deputy Minister of Education Rakova lobbied for the allocation of more than 150 million rubles to the Fund for New Forms of Education Development (FNFRO), which she herself headed, for the implementation of the project. The work was allegedly performed poorly and had no practical use. Kornienko was allegedly engaged in cashing out stolen funds.
