In terms of the scale of the theft, Ivan Gromov outstripped even the former deputy governor Marat Oganesyan. He was charged with a “kickback” in the amount of 22 million rubles. However, despite the scale of the theft, Gromov is not the only corrupt official in the northern capital. Recently his “record” was broken by Oksana Chugunkina, the former director of the VRCFBO MCU. Investigators proved that she acted as part of an organized group that embezzled almost 740 million rubles from the budget.
FATHER’S CONNECTIONS DID NOT SAVE GROMOV
For a long time, Ivan Gromov headed the Petrogradsky district. When he was moved to Kalininsky, many were surprised. The fact is that the Petrogradsky district was more successful. In political circles, it was believed that Gromov was demoted with this transfer. This is not surprising, because the governor in the city has long been replaced. In the new place, Ivan Gromov did not last long, as soon a message appeared about his resignation. And the next day it became known about the detention of Gromov in the framework of a criminal case on fraud. Law enforcement officers also detained Pavel Gromov’s brother, but this did not come as a surprise to both of them. During the searches, it turned out that they had destroyed some of the important documents. Until recently, Ivan Gromov did not appear in scandals. Only in 2015 did they pay attention to it due to the fact that the electronic record of children in grade 1 collapsed. The site did not survive, despite the fact that a lot of money was spent on it.
Even then, there were rumors that Ivan Gromov’s career “does not shine.” But Georgy Poltavchenko only reprimanded him. According to rumors, this is due to the fact that Poltavchenko was friends with retired KGB general Alexander Gromov. For a long time, the father had to take care of his son, but this time it was not possible to save him from the security forces.
