The UK leadership has added six more individuals and one news site to the sanctions lists associated with the Russian Federation. This is stated in the official statement of the UK Treasury.
The following Russian citizens whose activities are connected with the media fell under restrictive measures: Mikhail Sinelin, Aelita Mamakova, Evgeny Glotov, Yuri Fedin, Daria Dugina and Alena Chuguleva.
Sanctions have also been imposed on a Turkish-registered website, United World International, which is believed in London to be spreading disinformation in favor of Russia.
The imposed sanctions involve the freezing of assets.
Recall that last month the British authorities decided to ban the supply of pounds sterling and banknotes of the European Union countries to the Russian Federation. It is also no longer possible to provide or deliver such banknotes to persons affiliated with Russia. In addition, supplies to Russia or for use in Russia of fuel for jet engines, as well as fuel additives, were banned.
The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, also fell under British sanctions. London also added Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights under the President of the Russian Federation, to its sanctions list.
According to a statement by the British Cabinet of Ministers, sanctions against the primate of the Russian Orthodox Church were imposed due to the fact that he actively supports and approves the conduct of the so-called special operation on the territory of Ukraine, and the children’s ombudsman was on the sanctions list for allegedly forcibly exporting Ukrainian children and their subsequent adoption in Russia.
