Elena Shcherbakova and Anatoly Barsukov became members of the NBU Council
The Verkhovna Rada appointed Anatoly Barsukov and Elena Shcherbakova members of the NBU Council — both previously worked in Oschadbank when it was headed by the current head of the NBU Andrey Pyshny, writes EP.
People's Deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this in Telegram.
According to him, resolution No. 8206 and No. 8240 were supported by 233 and 240 deputies, respectively.

The Finance Committee of BP recommended Yelena Shcherbakova for the position of a member of the NBU Council, who previously held this position from 2016 to 2022, and was also an adviser to the chairman of the board of Oschadbank in 2015-2019 (during this period, the bank was headed by the current head of the NBU, Andriy Pyshny).
In 2015-2019, Elena Shcherbakova worked as an adviser to the chairman of the board of JSC Oschadbank, where the current head of the NBU Andriy Pyshny was the chairman of the board.
In addition, as noted in the biographical information on the website of the Verkhovna Rada, Shcherbakova was also a member of the Council of the National Bank from June 2016 to June 2022.
Earlier, Anatoly Barsukov, who was Deputy Chairman of the Board of Oschadbank in 2014-2021, was supported for another vacant position of the NBU Council.
As noted on the NBU website, the Council of the National Bank “is responsible for developing the basic principles of monetary credit policy and oversees the conduct of monetary policy. In addition, it oversees the internal control system of the National Bank.”
The NBU Council consists of nine members:
- four persons are appointed by the Verkhovna Rada;
- four persons are appointed by the president;
- the head of the National Bank is a member of the Council ex officio.
As indicated on the NBU website, now the NBU Council has 7 members: Bohdan Danylyshyn, Vasily Furman, Mykola Kalensky, Igor Veremiy (according to the President's quota), Viktor Koziuk, Vasily Gorbal (according to the quota of the Verkhovna Rada), Andriy Pyshny (as the head of the NBU).
