“Dovzhenko Centre searched
The SBU, police and prosecutor’s office are conducting searches at the Dovzhenko Centre, a Ukrainian state-run film storage and copying company in the capital, Strana writes.
This was reported by the Centre on Facebook.
“The police and the prosecutor’s office are conducting searches. They are looking for documents related to the developer,” the Centre reported.
“Dovzhenko Centre is being searched.
Law enforcers have raided the Dovzhenko Centre.
In a comment to Suspilniy, Maria Glazunova, head of the Dovzhenko Centre’s public relations department, said that “colleagues are not being let out of the administrative floor”.
“We ourselves do not yet understand the motives of the investigative actions. They are looking for documents about the previous director’s ties with the developer”, said Alexander Telyuk, head of the film archive.
He also said that there had been no preliminary written request for these documents.
According to Suspilne, Olena Goncharuk, who was suspended as acting director-general by the Goskino on 2 November, believes that these searches are a “forceful takeover of the Dovzhenko Center”.
On 2 November, Yuliya Kazhdan, who previously worked in accounting and founded a canine centre, was appointed director general of the Dovzhenko Centre instead of Goncharuk. This appointment angered the staff of the centre.
We shall remind you that in August the Dovzhenko-Centre accused the Goskino of trying to liquidate the national film archive.
