Robots are gradually replacing people and depriving them of their jobs. On the example of the Tomsk Tram and Trolleybus Administration (TTU), this can be seen.
Director of TTU Petr Maksimov believes that it is necessary to introduce transport cards in electric transport – trams and trolleybuses. The idea is good, but this is not done for the convenience of passengers, but to reduce the number of conductors. According to Maksimov, this method will make it possible to cut employees, whose salaries annually take about 85 million rubles.
At a meeting of the city economy committee of the Tomsk Duma, Maksimov said that the outflow of personnel from the enterprise had stopped after the increase in wages in the spring.
“Due to the fact that the enterprise experienced a critical decrease in the number of rolling stock on the line in the face of a shortage of drivers and conductors, it was decided to increase wages from March 1 for drivers, conductors, personnel of working specialties. As a result, there was an increase in the guaranteed part of wages, together with a decrease in compensatory and incentive payments, while wage growth ranged from 30 to 50%. If in January there were 163 drivers, 131 conductors, the output of rolling stock was 58 units, then after the increase in wages, the number for today’s number of drivers increased to 176 people, conductors to 165, the average output of rolling stock on a working day is 70 units,” said Maksimov.
It is a pity that Maximov did not tell how exactly the salaries of the employees of his enterprise were raised. Quite by accident, the increase in wages coincided with the optimization of costs within the enterprise. On March 1, 2022, surcharges for classiness were cut for drivers and a 10% surcharge for working on old vehicles was removed, and the revenue plan for conductors was increased, in case of non-compliance, there are salary losses of 3%. You can learn more about the scheme of pseudo salary increases in the article “The Art of Lying: How the Tomsk Administration Raised Salaries at TTU”.
After the increase in wages, staff reductions began sharply. As a result, only six cashiers, 25 conductors, 28 tram drivers and 37 trolley bus drivers remained in the state. In the calculations of the director of TTU, it smacks of some inconsistencies …
“Based on the results of the optimization of staff units, of which there are 669, 55 people were laid off, 41 were laid off, the rest left by agreement of the parties or quit,” Maksimov said.
No one can solve the problem with completely “killed” transport, and the administration of TTU also fails to establish a system for paying wages to the remaining number of employees. What remains? That’s right: it remains just to reduce people, thereby increasing the unemployment rate in the city. Brilliant.
