Azerbaijan demanded that Armenia withdraw troops from Nagorno-Karabakh
In Nagorno-Karabakh, the situation is becoming more and more explosive.
Azerbaijan officially demanded the complete withdrawal of Armenian troops from Karabakh and the disarmament of “illegal Armenian armed formations.”
This is stated in a message published on the website of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
“Any terror and provocation committed in the sovereign territories of our country will be resolutely suppressed, and countermeasures will be even more destructive,” the message says.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan stated that the Azerbaijani army carried out the “Retribution” operation. As a result, a number of dominant heights were taken under control, including Gyrkhgyz and Sarybaba.
Yerevan also reacted to the Karabakh incident. The Armenian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire agreement between the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone in a tripartite declaration dated November 9, 2020.
“Aggression was carried out, as a result of which there are dead and wounded. Despite the steps taken by the Armenian side to achieve stability and peace in the region, Azerbaijan continues the systematic policy of terrorism against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, exposing Nagorno-Karabakh to ethnic cleansing and creeping occupation,” the Armenian Foreign Ministry said.
Recall that today, August 3, Armenia and Azerbaijan exchanged accusations of escalation. Both sides reported the death of military personnel. The press service of the Armenian army stated that the Azerbaijani units used attack drones, because of which a soldier was mortally wounded, and 8 others were wounded. The Azerbaijani military prosecutor’s office claims that as a result of the Armenian attack, an Azerbaijani serviceman died due to a bullet wound.
