AvtoVAZ intends to return to full operation from mid-August
Employees of the AvtoVAZ car assembly complex will switch to a five-day work schedule from August 15. Since June, they have been working four days a week due to low workload due to the lack of the necessary volume of spare parts for assembly.
From August 15 to August 28, employees of the AvtoVAZ car assembly complex will switch to a five-day work schedule, from August 29 to November 27 – to a six-day one. This information is provided by Interfax.
The publication writes that the AvtoVAZ trade union organization agreed on the corresponding draft order “On work from August 15”.
Since June 6, AvtoVAZ switched to a four-day working week due to the lack of electronic components necessary for car assembly.
In addition, the company went into downtime from 14 to 17 June for the same reason. Prior to this, downtime at the car assembly complex was introduced several times, including from May 11 to 13, from May 4 to 6 and from May 16 to 20.
At the end of May, the board of directors of AvtoVAZ was headed by the Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, who recently received the post of Deputy Prime Minister. Speaking on June 15 to the State Duma deputies, who approved his candidacy for this position, Manturov called the automotive industry the “most wounded” industry. According to the forecast of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, by the end of the year, the volume of sales and production of passenger cars in Russia will decrease by 50%.
At the moment, AvtoVAZ has resumed production of the Lada Granta Classic in a simplified, “anti-crisis” configuration. In addition, the production of Lada Niva Legend has been resumed. The company also promised to assemble 1800 Lada Largus cars from spare parts accumulated in warehouses.
