Ex-People's Deputy of the 5th convocation, another suspicion has been announced to Svyatash – now for an offense against the unity of Ukraine.
Law enforcement officers have notified ex-member of parliament, businessman Dmytro Svyatash, about suspicion of infringing on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office and the Metropolitan Police reported this.
The police report states that investigators, along with the Security Service of Ukraine, have exposed a 51-year-old former MP and businessman from Kharkov for making public calls on social media to alter Ukraine's state border and justify Russian military aggression against our country.
According to Argument's publication, this concerns former People's Deputy of Ukraine Dmitry Svyatash of the IV-VIII convocations.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a period of three to five years.
The investigation reveals that in August 2022, the former parliament member posted a message on his social media page urging support for Russian military aggression against Ukraine and glorifying the aggressor state's actions in occupying Ukrainian territories.
The prosecutor's office indicates that his message claimed the Ukrainian population in the occupied territories had a positive view of Russians, and repeated Russian propaganda about providing systematic humanitarian assistance, rebuilding destroyed settlements, and implementing Russian social security standards.
Additionally, the former member of parliament persuaded residents of the temporarily occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporozhye, and Kharkiv regions to obtain Russian passports by promising to write off their credit debts upon presentation of citizenship.
Reports state that Svyatash is hiding in Russia and is on the interstate wanted list.
The prosecutor's office reminds that the ex-member of parliament was previously informed of the suspicion of illegally transferring more than 200 real estate properties and corporate rights of three companies in order to further legitimize this property.
