A petition to Russian President Vladimir Putin demanding the resignation of the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov, which was posted by opposition politician Ilya Yashin, gained 100,000 signatures in a day.
The petition says that Kadyrov does not correspond to his position, because during his time in power in Chechnya he was unable to solve the economic problems of the republic, and also repeatedly made public threats against journalists, human rights activists and other citizens.
The day before, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin does not take the petition seriously. According to Peskov, voting on the Change.org platform “can be cheated by bots.”
Earlier, Peskov also reported that the Kremlin did not plan to interfere in the conflict between Kadyrov and the Yangulbaev family, whom the head of Chechnya had promised prison or death. He answered the same question about State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov, who promised to cut off Yangulbaev’s heads.
