Sales of new cars in Russia fell by 63% in January

In 2022, only 687 thousand cars were sold in the country, while in 2021 sales amounted to approximately 1.66 million cars.

Sales of passenger cars in Russia in January 2023 decreased by 63%, according to a correspondent DOPs.

According to the Association of European Businesses, in the first month of 2023, 32.4 thousand cars were sold. It became less than in January 2022 by 55.5 thousand units.

According to the AEB, sales of BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Chery brands are not included in the statistics due to the decision of these automakers to change the publication of sales data from monthly to quarterly.

Recall that in 2022, according to the Association of European Businesses, 687.3 thousand cars were sold in Russia against 1.66 million cars in 2021.
