Ilya Fedorov, who headed the department for the development of integration projects and CIS countries of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, was appointed representative of the department for the protection of trade and economic interests of the Russian Federation in Belarus, a correspondent reports. The decree, which allows the Russian Ministry of Economic Development to have its own representatives in 52 countries, was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 1, 2021. Representatives perform their functions as part of Russian trade missions abroad, and at the same time they are not included in the staff of representative offices.
Previously, Mr. Fedorov was the First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Belarus, from 2019 to 2022 he headed the Department for the Development of Integration Projects and CIS Countries of the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia. For several years, he oversaw issues of bilateral cooperation with Belarus, including on the platforms of the CIS and the EAEU.
