“Yandex” announced the absence of a threat to users in connection with the leak

“Yandex” disclosed the first results of the audit, which is carried out in connection with the leakage of part of the old source code. A statement from the press service on the company’s website states that there is no threat to users or services in connection with the incident.

“Primary analysis showed that the published fragments do not pose any threat to the security of our users or the performance of services,” the press service explained.

The company noted that the investigation in connection with the discovery of fragments of the program code of some services continues, several cases of serious violation of its own policy, including the principles of Yandex and the rules of corporate ethics, were identified.

The press service indicated that the code contained the contact details of some partners, for example, drivers, their contacts and ID numbers were transferred from one park to another in a number of cases. Also in the Yandex Lavka service, there was the possibility of manually setting up recommendations for any products without a mark about advertising.

Earlier, on January 26, on the site “Habr”, dedicated to news from the world of IT technologies, there was information about the leakage of source codes and related data of many Yandex services and programs. It was claimed that the total amount of archives is more than 44.7 gigabytes.
