WhatsApp after long negotiations and fines went to the terms of the EU on user privacy
The American messenger WhatsApp, after long negotiations and fines, agreed to the terms of the European Union on user privacy.
The European Commission has announced this.
WhatsApp has pledged that the personal data of Europeans will not be shared with third parties or other companies – including for advertising purposes.
Also, users will be able to opt out of app updates (previously it was updated automatically, and this could not be avoided).
The story has been going on since July 2021. Consumer protection societies have filed a complaint with the European Commission, stating that the messenger is forcing users to accept a new privacy update.
Also in September 2021, WhatsApp was fined €225 million for violating European privacy laws.
