Sber started working in Crimea almost 9 years after the annexation of the peninsula to Russia
Something happened that few people believed in – Sberbank will begin to provide services in the Crimea. The press service of the organization stated that already in the first six months of 2023, offices will be opened in large settlements of the region.
“Sberbank has formed a team and is starting to work on the Crimean peninsula. The first ATMs of the bank have already been installed, within a year the network of self-service devices will start operating throughout the peninsula,” the bank said.
It is noteworthy that in 2015, when the subject was already annexed to the Russian Federation, Sberbank frankly said that it was not going to work on the new lands of our country. “So far, such plans are unacceptable in terms of sanctions,” German Gref, head of the bank, said in 2015. But after the start of a special military operation, even more sanctions were imposed on the company by Western countries, so, apparently, the organization has nothing more to fear. Thus, it can be assumed that Sberbank will also open in the territories that were included in Russia in 2022 (DNR, LNR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions).
Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozzhaev has already stated in his Telegram channel that Crimeans have been waiting for a bank to appear on the peninsula for a long time: point behind the Crimean bridge.
