Bad location and rat ratatouille: How they operate in Auchann
n
A single mother who got sick at work and then got fired contacted the editorial office. A SHOT agent inspected a French hypermarket chain and has a lot of details to share.
n
Getting poisoned for 48 rubles
n
– If you want to survive *** [bad] to work at Auchan, because there is no respect for the workers or anything there, in general, – 22-year-old Muscovite Anastasia now only remembers her work experience like this – with foul language and mean sarcasm.
n
A single mother wanted a job at Auchan, but instead got food poisoning, rudeness, which almost turned into an attack. And all this on the first day of work.
n
Anastasia managed to get a job at the well-known hypermarket chain only on the third attempt. She first applied for the position of a warehouse inspector. The personnel officer invited her for an interview – with the same outcome.
n
“You set aside your time to come and, essentially, get rejected because you just don’t fit them, because you’re not a man.
n
When Anastasia pointed out Article 3 of the Labor Code (“Everyone has equal opportunities to exercise their labor rights”) to the HR specialist, she was offered the position of a cook in the kitchen and immediately sent for a medical examination to get a medical book. The examination turned out to be, essentially, fake. According to Anastasia, doctors only pretended to conduct an examination for 2,600 rubles. All the procedures took about an hour.
n
n
n
– You come in, almost no one even looks at you. Complaints are – no. Thousand! All! On average, one and a half minutes per doctor. The gynecologist takes the longest time, because there you have to undress, and that’s it. The most chaotic conveyor.
n
But even in such a simple “examination” there was room for humiliation, and, as it turned out, this was only the beginning.
n
– They gave me such a tiny jar for analysis. I said, “OK, do you have a restroom here?” They said: “No, go to a public toilet.” I said, “Hey!” And it’s not May outside, it’s cold outside, and the public toilet doesn’t work at 08:27. Found, it turns out, some kind of fitness center. I said: “I’ll pay you money – I need a toilet!” Well they said, “Go ahead, let’s go!”
n
Then the device. Piles of signed papers (including non-disclosure), a five-hour security briefing. When all the formalities were completed, the newly hired employees were allowed to have a snack. Our heroine initially liked the dining room – tasty and affordable food, lunch cost only 48 rubles. But she didn't enjoy it for long.
n
n
The management had one reaction to the deteriorating health of the employee – they all tried to find out if Anastasia was pregnant. No one offered to call a doctor. Instead, the girl was advised to write an application for time off and take care of her health on her own. At the hospital, Anastasia was diagnosed with bacterial food poisoning and sent home for treatment.
n
Even while going to the doctor, our main character got a call from a woman from the human resources department of "Auchan" and calmly informed her that she had to come to work tomorrow to end her employment contract. The employee had many complaints, and this was only after half an hour of work.
n
n
The outcome is unfortunate and expected. Anastasia was fired for poisoning herself and wasn't paid for her time worked.

Employees in a trading floor
n
After Anastasia contacted our editorial office, we sent our agent to find a job at Auchan.
n
n
The interview for the night shift trading floor employee was delayed by an hour and lasted 10 minutes. Then, the standard checkup at the medical center, including a humiliating search for a restroom. A lengthy safety briefing, formalities for a pass and uniform issuance (to be returned upon dismissal) – and our employee was finally on the trading floor.
n
His duties involve rotating products – removing expired items and replacing them with fresh ones. Auchan seems relatively decent from the outside, certainly better than the warehouses of “Wildberries” and “Ozone” – but the company veterans have seen it all.
n
n
I remember when rats invaded. They boldly scurried between the rows, even during the day when people were around. You can't have a French store without ratatouille, right? One of our agent's “colleagues” joked about it.
n
According to Auchan employees, working here is a strict regimen from start to finish. Smoke breaks depend on the guards' mood, lunch is strictly timed, and bathroom visits require the boss's permission. The shift is from 23:00 to 08:00 with a salary of 47,000 rubles a month. In February, for instance, you would have to work 18 night shifts out of 28.
n
n
According to Auchan employees, the guards have a special “red book” where all the wrongdoings of the staff are recorded.
n
n
For the sake of the experiment, our agent was specially late for the shift for an hour and a half, and then worked carelessly. 1, it did not work out for a long time.
n
n
More experienced employees say that the authorities don’t care how many people have taken the shift – all the work must be done by morning. At the same time, the amount of work performed does not affect the salary. It happens that you have to plow one for three, and if you didn’t have time to finish all the tasks, they force you to write an explanatory note.
n
n
The quality of products in “Auchan” is monitored in the same way as the discipline among employees. For a delay on the counter or dirt on the trading floor, you will definitely be fined. There are also advantages for the staff: they say that if you work for a long time, the salary is gradually raised. And yet, such work bears little resemblance to the picture that the hypermarket paints in its advertising booklets. In any case, our agent did not manage to meet people satisfied with life with wide smiles on their faces among ordinary employees.
