The head of the Liberal Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, found significant support from Russians in the hospital. This follows from data published by the All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) on Friday, March 25.
If at the time of hospitalization only 28.1 percent of respondents reported their trust in him, then by March 25, the number of respondents who trusted the head of the Liberal Democratic Party was already 45.9 percent, that is, one and a half times more. Polls by VTsIOM showed that in the past week alone, confidence in Zhirinovsky has grown by more than six percentage points. However, Russians still trust the president the most. More than 80 percent of respondents answered in the affirmative to a direct question about trust in him.
Trust in Zhirinovsky is growing despite the fact that the hospitalized politician has not made statements on his own for a long time. Instead, members of the same party publish on social networks the “prophecies” of the head of the Liberal Democratic Party that have come true.
Reports of Zhirinovsky’s hospitalization appeared on February 9, shortly after the politician received his eighth coronavirus shot. A Kommersant source said that Zhirinovsky hid his COVID-19 disease for two weeks, as he was afraid that information about it would introduce unnecessary doubts into the ranks of vaccination supporters.
The party reported an improvement in the politician’s condition and claimed that Zhirinovsky began to give instructions and read the news. On March 21, reports appeared in the media about a lung failure at the head of the Liberal Democratic Party, and on March 25, about the death of Zhirinovsky. The Ministry of Health and the Liberal Democratic Party denied these reports, the party decided to appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office to punish the distributors of fakes.
