The court left Kara-Murza accused of treason in jail until March
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the term of arrest of oppositionist Vladimir Kara-Murza (recognized as an individual acting as a foreign agent), accused of treason and spreading fakes about the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces).
This was reported to Lente.ru by the press service of the court.
The decision was made at the request of the investigator, who asked for an extension of the measure of restraint in the form of detention. Kara-Murza will remain in jail until March 12.
His lawyer asked the court to release him from arrest and impose any other preventive measure not related to being in custody, but was refused.
On December 24, 2022, Kara-Murza stated that he was forbidden to talk on the phone with his children. He cited a document from investigator Andrey Zadachin, which alleges that conversations with children, whose voices, as the publicist points out, he has not heard since April, “may pose a real threat to the proper trial of a criminal case and otherwise threaten the trial.” .
Kara-Murza has been in custody since spring 2022. He does not admit his guilt, stating that his words were open criticism without any threat to the security of Russia.
