The archbishop of Syktyvkar and Komi-Zyryansk said that a rape victim can go to hell, and a “prudent” rapist can go to heaven
And they suffer after rape in different ways – people of “easy virtue” or those who have drunk the least.
In a recent interview, ROC Bishop Pitirim (Pavel Volochkov) raised the topic of forgiveness. According to him, if the rapist is prudent and can repent, then paradise awaits him. But the victim can go to hell – if he cannot forgive the offender, does not go to church and cannot repent of his own sins. “People who do not forgive may not only suffer, in the abyss of unforgiveness, in trouble,” says the Bishop.
At the same time, Pitirim argues that there is a certain gradation of suffering after rape. Yes, someone suffers, it can drive someone to suicide. “But there are people who, so to speak, are “of easy virtue” or in a drunken, narcotic state received this violence. There is another difference. Experiences are different, ”says the religious figure. And he invites the victims to first “understand themselves.”
