The resonant federal bill on the introduction of QR codes for visiting public places will most likely not be considered by the deputies of the State Duma in the near future.
This information was disseminated by Interfax with reference to the head of the Just Russia – For Truth faction, Sergei Mironov.
Mironov told the agency that he had reason to believe that consideration of the draft law on QR codes would be temporarily postponed, but he did not specify for how long. According to the parliamentarian, this is the main reason for the possible refusal to consider it – the unwillingness of Russian citizens “to accept this law.”
Earlier, an unnamed informed source told Interfax that the consideration of the bill in question would be postponed. The interlocutor of the agency explained that the government is in no hurry to declare the document as a priority, and in specific subjects of the Russian Federation, if necessary, QR codes can be introduced by regional authorities.
Recall that on December 16 last deputies of the State Duma adopted a bill on the introduction of QR codes for visiting public places in the first reading. After that, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, instructed the Cabinet of Ministers, together with employers and parliamentarians, to finalize this document.
It should be noted that according to the results of a survey conducted in December by the Levada Center (recognized as a foreign agent by decision of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation), 67% of respondents oppose the introduction of a system of mandatory verification of QR codes for visiting public places, 30% support this measure.
