The former head of Rospotrebnadzor Gennady Onishchenko, in a conversation with KP.RU, named the cause of the severe course of the coronavirus in the head of the LDPR party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky.
According to him, untimely treatment led to this outcome. Onishchenko noted that the politician delayed the process of hospitalization.
Zhirinovsky could have avoided complications if he had decided to go to the hospital at the beginning of the coronavirus disease, the ex-head of Rospotrebnadzor believes.
“Apparently, after all, this is due to self-esteem and the conviction that this illness cannot touch him in any way,” he suggested.
Onishchenko emphasizedthat Zhirinovsky was serious about complying with anti-COVID measures, wore gloves and a mask at meetings, and also tried to be as little as possible in the halls where the events were held.
Earlier, the son of the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, the former vice-speaker of the State Duma, Igor Lebedev, for the first time publicly responded to the illness of a politician.
He posted a post on a social network with the words “Just live!” and accompanied it with the status “worried”.
Recall that due to the coronavirus on February 2, Zhirinovsky was taken to one of the Moscow clinics.
Even then, information appeared in the media that the politician was in serious condition with bilateral pneumonia. Estimates of lung involvement ranged from 30 to 75%.
Information about the serious condition of Zhirinovsky and his connection to a ventilator was published by the Telegram channel “112”. Doctors continue to monitor the politician, and it is too early to talk about his discharge.
In turn, the LDPR urged not to believe the rumors about the alleged death of Zhirinovsky. Sergei Leonov, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Health Committee, spoke on behalf of the party and reported on the politician’s stable condition.
