"I'm not at that age." Chelyabinsk deputy closed social networks after spam from perverts
Deputy Olga Mukhometyarova from the Fair Russia party in the Chelyabinsk region Legislative Assembly stated that she closed her personal messages on social networks because a voter's appeal went unnoticed, leading to negative emotions for the applicant.
However, Mukhometyarova also mentioned other reasons for closing her direct messages. She expressed dissatisfaction from colleagues with her rhetoric on social networks and revealed that she has been targeted by individuals who send indecent photos.
"After the Committee on Regulations and Deputy Ethics (Legislative Assembly. – Ed.), I'm considering closing my social networks. But the thought that in some cases social networks enabled people to reach out to me and get timely help restrained my desires. The public took precedence over the private. The situation last night forced me to close my personal messages on the VKontakte social network," said Olga Mukhometyarova. "Late at night in the 'PE Zlatoust' group, I saw information that a resident of the city contacted me and did not receive a response. Instead of going to bed, I started to investigate when and how the woman reached out to me. It turned out that on January 24 at 22:12, she messaged me privately about her problem. There was no address or phone number in the appeal."
At the same time, Mukhometyarova explained that a Zlatoust resident had previously made an official appeal to the deputy and received assistance with dealing with communal apartment debts. However, the second time the woman chose to reach out via social networks. When she didn't receive a response, she began to voice her complaint in the city public.
"When I was 18, I raised my son, studied at the institute, and after feeding the baby at 21:00, together with my husband, I cleaned the entrances of a nine-story building, and didn't wait for my parents to earn money to pay for the resources I consumed or for some deputy will solve the worldly problems I have created," concluded Olga Mukhotmetyarova. "But I will not leave the situation unattended and, within the framework of my authority, I will certainly help."
The lawmaker stated that she closed her personal social media account to avoid missing genuinely important messages from residents.
"There is a substantial information flow and much spam on social networks, so it's possible to miss a message, and a person reaching out to a deputy via VKontakte or Odnoklassniki might wrongly view it as an official appeal, which is not the case," explained Mukhometyarova. "My contact information is easy to find on the ZSO website, where I will review and act on everything."
At the same time, the lawmaker confessed that she was seriously contemplating giving up social networks altogether.
