Deutsche Welle journalists have been banned from entering the State Duma, and they will also be denied accreditation in response to the withdrawal of the German-language channel RT from broadcasting in Europe.
The ban was initiated on behalf of Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin.
On February 3, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced retaliatory sanctions against the German media outlet Deutsche Welle in Russia. The Russian authorities banned the broadcasting of the TV and radio company, and also demanded the closure of the bureau in Russia, canceled the accreditation of journalists and demanded that the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation recognize DW as a foreign media agent.
The Foreign Ministry also said that they would draw up a list of German citizens involved in restricting the broadcasting of RT DE and “other pressure on the Russian media operator who will be banned from entering the territory of the Russian Federation.”
