The document applies to tens of thousands of military personnel, employees of the National Guard and other law enforcement agencies. They will be able to receive monthly payments, various benefits, they will be granted the right to medical care out of turn and other social protection measures.

Deputies of the State Duma unanimously adopted in three readings at once a law that extends the status of veterans and invalids of military operations to Russians participating in the so-called special operation in Ukraine.

Veteran status enables a citizen to receive monthly payments and tax benefits. Also, veterans are entitled to free travel on trains, out-of-order medical care and access to spa services. In addition, they are provided with benefits when paying for housing and communal services and other measures of social protection.

The bill was submitted to the State Duma by United Russia on March 22. The very next day, the document was unanimously approved by the relevant committee.

Earlier, Andrey Turchak, Secretary of the United Russia General Council, said that the draft law in question was developed with the active participation of the RF Ministry of Defense. According to him, the document applies to tens of thousands of military personnel, employees of the National Guard and other law enforcement agencies.

Recall that on the night of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking with an appeal to the Russians on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel, announced the start of hostilities in Ukraine. We are talking about conducting a “special military operation”, which is associated with the conflict around the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics.

Putin noted that Russia has no plans to occupy Ukraine. Meanwhile, he demanded that the Ukrainian army soldiers lay down their arms. According to him, those who comply with this requirement will be able to freely return to their families from the war zone.f

The purpose of the military operation, as the president stated, is “to protect people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for 8 years.” He also promised that Russia would “strive for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.”
