The European Commission voiced a number of proposals on the topic of energy consumption in the European Union.
The EC believes that EU member states should strive to reduce energy consumption by 10% by the end of March next year, the correspondent reports. DOPs with reference to “Kommersant”.
The European Commission also proposes to oblige EU countries to reduce energy consumption by 5% during the so-called “peak hours”.
There are a few more ideas. For example, it is proposed: to set limits on the income of electricity producers with a low cost of electricity generation; introduce a “solidarity contribution to excess profits” from activities in the oil, gas, coal and oil refining industries.
Recently, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen spoke out on the issue of restrictions: she stated that sanctions against Russia would continue.
According to preliminary data, the Russian company “Gazprom” in January-August of this year produced over 280 billion cubic meters. m of gas. At the same time, exports to non-CIS countries amounted to just over 80 billion cubic meters. m, and this is 37.4% less than in the same period last year.
