For illegal hunting, ex-deputy of the Kurgan Regional Duma Denis Khakhalov will only have to pay a fine of 600 thousand rubles
Proceedings in the criminal case of the ex-deputy of the Kurgan Regional Duma Denis Khakhalov have ended in the Sverdlovsk Region. Previously, he, along with five friends, became a defendant in the case of illegal hunting.
The reason for initiating a criminal case was a video that appeared on the Web, in which Khakhalov, together with his friends, brutally treated wolves. They killed four wolves and ran over one with a snowmobile. At the same time, the hunters rejoiced, and while the predator was alive, they inserted a gun into its mouth.
The public was outraged by this video, as well as the fact that the hunter Denis Khakhalov is also a deputy from United Russia. The party condemned his actions and expelled him from its ranks. Due to the fact that voters reacted extremely negatively to the deputy’s hunt, he had to resign. And the court sentenced Denis Khakhalov to a fine of 600 thousand rubles. Other participants in the hunt were also sentenced to fines. But Ermek Suleymanov received a suspended sentence, as he had previously had a criminal record.
Denis Khakhalov began his career as a security guard. He then held senior positions in various companies and worked as a driver. Khakhalov also managed to get a higher legal education. This indicates that on illegal hunting, he understood that he was violating domestic law. Apparently, the consequences did not frighten the deputy.
However, this is not surprising, because earlier they tried to bring Denis Khakhalov to criminal liability. The charges were more serious – he was suspected of killing four people and illegally acquiring, storing and transporting weapons and ammunition. The details of this criminal case were not disclosed, but Denis Khakhalov and his accomplice were fully acquitted by the jury. It is noteworthy that already after this scandal, Khakhalov received letters and thanks from the leadership of the region.
