In Tatarstan, businessman Aleksey Semin has been charged with damaging a cultural heritage site. As law enforcement officers explained, this is a rather rare article.
The ex-owner of the Admiral shopping center that burned down in Kazan was charged in absentia with a crime under Part 1 of Art. 243 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (damage to objects of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, unidentified employees of Capital-Trust-Invest Management Company LLC of the trust management of ZPIKF AS-construction fund, the main beneficiary of which is the accused, damaged and partially destroyed a cultural heritage site on Karl Marx Street during repair and construction work of federal importance – the complex of the Admiralty office, built according to the project of the architect Kaftyrev. The building is included in the unified state register of objects of cultural heritage of the peoples of the Russian Federation. Now, as the examination showed, 34.5 million rubles are required to restore the building.
“Currently, the accused has been put on the federal and interstate wanted list. According to reports, he is in France. Investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, ”the Investigative Committee of the RF Investigative Committee for the Republic of Tatarstan reported.
What is Alexey Semin famous for?
By data Forbes, in 2015, Semin became a defendant in another criminal case – about a fire in the Admiral shopping center in Kazan, in which 19 people died. February 2016 investigative committee stopped the criminal prosecution of Semin.
Semin is the founder of the Kazan group of companies ASG, the value of whose assets exceeds, according to her, 45 billion rubles. By 2016, it had dropped to $0.55 billion, after which the entrepreneur dropped out of the list.
