FBK Navalny cameraman Pavel Zelensky, convicted of inciting extremism, asked for parole
The court decided to consider the issue in two months, that is, when the term of the oppositionist will actually come up to the call.
The case against the operator was initiated by the FSB in Moscow under part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code due to two tweets by Zelensky, one of which contained the phrase “bastards unworthy of life” addressed to Putin, Peskov and Volodin. This is how the activist reacted to the self-immolation of Nizhny Novgorod journalist Irina Slavina. The examination established in the tweets a call for extremism. After the January holidays, the oppositionist was imprisoned in a pre-trial detention center. A few days later, he refused the services of human rights activists and fully admitted his guilt. Soon, in return, he received a transfer under house arrest. The verdict was passed in April last year: 2 years in a penal colony. But Zelensky was able to stay in the economic detachment of the Moscow pre-trial detention center.
