Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. According to Interfax, the head of the Russian military department officially reported to the first person of the state on the taking control of the troops of the entire territory of the Luhansk People’s Republic (the Russian Federation recognized the independence of the Luhansk People’s Republic within the borders of the Lugansk region of Ukraine) and said that the armed forces continue to move towards the implementation goals set in the framework of the so-called special military operation.
In turn, Vladimir Putin instructed to give a rest to the units of the “Center” group, which took an active part in the battles in the Luhansk direction.
The head of state also announced his intention to sign a decree on conferring the title of Hero of Russia to Colonel General Alexander Lapin, who commands the Center group, as well as Major General Esedulla Abachev, deputy commander of the 8th Army of the Southern Military District.
Putin also said that he had received a report from Alexander Lapin and the commander of the Aerospace Forces, Sergei Surovikin, in which they outlined their thoughts on the further development of the Russian offensive.
Shoigu also reported to the President on the losses of the Ukrainian side in the Luhansk direction. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Ukraine lost the lives of 2,218 servicemen, and another 3,251 were injured. At the same time, the head of the military department did not publicly inform the head of state about the losses of the Russian armed forces.
