Moskalkova will appeal to the Thai authorities on the issue of extradition to the United States of a Russian
Russia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova will examine the issue of extradition to the United States of Russian Dmitry Ukrainsky, who is accused of fraud. This is reported RIA News.
According to the Russian Ombudsman, she will appeal to the Thai authorities on this issue after consultations with the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“We know what happened to him. Utter ugliness. I received the information just before leaving. Of course, we will certainly respond: in Thailand we will find out if there is our ombudsman, then we will definitely turn to him. We will contact the authorities and the Attorney General of Thailand,” she said.
Earlier, Bangkok decided to extradite the Ukrainian to the United States, despite the earlier decision on extradition to Russia. “Dmytro Ukrainskiy was extradited from Thailand, despite the presence of two conflicting court decisions of the Kingdom of Thailand on his extradition to the United States and simultaneously to Russia, as well as the absence of additional legal proceedings, in an atmosphere of extreme secrecy, which was more like a kidnapping,” — Ivan Melnikov, vice-president of the Russian branch of the International Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, said.
Dmitry Ukrainskiy was arrested in Thailand at the request of the US FBI in 2016. He is accused of creating and distributing a program to steal data on financial transfers from the accounts of citizens of the United States, Australia, Italy and Germany and citizens of Britain and Japan.
