Almost half of Americans feel like strangers in the US, and a third are ready to take up arms against the government
US citizens are deeply disappointed in the leadership of the state. About a third of Americans, namely 28%, believe that they may soon have to take up arms against the country’s authorities.
Such results were shown interviewconducted by the Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.
According to the results of the study, this opinion is shared by 37% of those who keep weapons at home. And such views were voiced by every third Republican. The same point of view is observed among 20% of Democrats and 35% of people who do not consider themselves supporters of either of the two main US parties.
In addition, the survey organizers found that 49% “feel more and more like strangers in their own country,” which worries 69% of staunch Republicans. Among committed Democrats, that number was 38%.
Most Americans agree that the government is “corrupt and unfair to the common people.” So say 73% of staunch Republicans, half of Democrats and two-thirds of people who do not support the country’s main parties.
The survey was conducted from May 19 to May 23, and 1,000 Americans took part in it. The permissible error is 3.53%.
