Speaker of the State Duma of Russia Vyacheslav Volodin said that this week the country plans to adopt federal laws on non-enforcement of decisions of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
About this he wrote in his official Telegram channel.
Volodin promised to refuse to implement the decisions of the ECtHR in Russia and announced the adoption of relevant laws this week. He said that the State Duma deputies proposed a number of amendments for the second reading.
In particular, the parliamentarians urged not to implement the decisions of the ECtHR adopted after March 15; and payment of compensations under the ECHR rulings, which entered into force before March 15, should be made only in rubles and to accounts in Russian banks. According to Volodin, the decisions of the Russian courts will take precedence over the decisions of the ECtHR.
“The European Court of Human Rights has become an instrument of political struggle against our country in the hands of Western politicians. Some of his decisions directly contradicted the Constitution of the Russian Federation, our values and traditions,” the speaker of the State Duma emphasized.
