The Ministry of Justice of Russia has recognized the human rights movement “Committee Against Torture” unregistered in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent.

According to the Ministry of Justice, the goals of the Committee’s activities are “representing the interests of the applicant in the investigating authorities and in court; assisting in obtaining compensation, as well as, if necessary, conducting medical rehabilitation measures.”
The sources of funding for the organization are the charitable foundation for assistance to victims of malfeasance “Committee against Torture”.
The website of the “Committee Against Torture” recalls that the organization was previously twice recognized by the Ministry of Justice as an NGO-foreign agent – in 2015 and 2016.
“Currently, the organization operates under its historical name “Committee against Torture” without forming a legal entity,” the statement says.
