Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov commented on the decision of Siemens to stop working in Russia
Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov commented on the decision of Siemens to refuse to work on the Russian market. According to him, such a step came as a surprise against the backdrop of Russia’s long-term cooperation with this company.
Manturov recalled that for several years, Siemens, in partnership with Power Machines, had been working to localize the production of high-capacity turbines in Russia. As a result, now the country can create its own high-capacity turbines of 65 MW and 170 MW. According to him, next year Power Machines will be able to start supplying these products for the modernization of Russian thermal power plants.
Speaking in general about the possibility of supplying Siemens equipment to Russia in the future, the minister noted that such an opportunity is available thanks to the parallel import mechanism (allows you to import goods without the consent of the copyright holder, subject to the start of global sales).
Recall, as previously reported, against the backdrop of the so-called Russian special operation in Ukraine, the leadership of the German concern Siemens decided to leave the Russian market. The company has already launched a procedure for terminating its production and operations in the country.
Among other projects, Siemens was involved in the production of Sapsan high-speed trains and Lastochka electric trains in Russia. In March, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, the company announced the termination of deliveries to Russia and suspended the contract with Russian Railways.
