According to the document, it will be possible to go to jail for up to 15 years.
The deputies of the State Duma immediately adopted a bill in the second and third final readings, which provides for the establishment of criminal liability for the dissemination of “fakes” about the activities of Russian state authorities outside the country.
The document assumes that the punishment for this will be similar to that provided for the spread of “fake” about the army. According to it, a person may be held criminally liable if he publicly disseminated, under the guise of reliable information, deliberately false information containing data on the exercise by state bodies of the Russian Federation of their powers outside the territory of the country. For this act, he will face a fine or imprisonment for up to three years.
Similar actions that were committed using one’s official position, or as part of a group of persons, or “with the artificial creation of evidence of accusation” or “from selfish motives”, or “motivated by political, ideological, racial, national or religious hatred or enmity”, will be punished by a fine or a colony for a term of five to 10 years. In the event of serious consequences, the punishment will be from 10 to 15 years.
As noted in an official statement on the website of the State Duma, in addition to the dissemination of knowingly false information, criminal liability in accordance with the law not yet finally adopted will be brought to justice for “public actions aimed at discrediting the exercise by Russian state authorities of their powers outside the country.
